2 reviews for Pit Bull Guitars LP-1SS Electric Guitar Kit (set neck)

  1. Bought this kit about 3 weeks ago and overall I am reasonably happy with it. The only problem that I had with mine was that the neck pocket seemed to be a bit rough and now I have a guitar with a rather high action ( hoping I can fix it up with the trust rod ) otherwise a great kit

  2. I have wanted a Spalted Maple top LP for some time so this was a no-brainer purchase for me. I wanted this LP to be a bit special and had decided to go with Jimmy Page wiring. The spalted Maple cap was painted using GoldenRod from Wudtone as was the headstock. neck, back and sides were painted Mahogany also from Wudtone.
I had ordered the Golden Age Pickups from SM, but on inspecting them realised I would have to do the coil-split myself. Ruined a damned fine pickup trying! Opted instead for some awesome DiMarzio Air’s which come with easy options to coil-split. There is a helpful tutorial on how to coil cut the Pit bull pickups…
Swopped out the plastic nut for a brass nut to give better sustain and swopped out the black bridge and saddles for silver options that I stole from another PB kit I am building.
Since I am using the Jimmy Page wiring model I took the liberty of upgrading Pots, capacitors, fitting the 150 Resistor and capacitor gizmo to maintain tone to the volume pots. Orange drop capacitors used in this baby as it was always going to be a special guitar since I built it for a guy who turned 50 this March (not you Adam)! It now sits proudly in his lounge! Mine!
It sounds sensational and I will definitely be building another LP soon!
